Lords and Ladies, welcome to the official Jeffrey Dean Foster website.

Hell has frozen over, stars are falling from the sky, and we have a president that can walk and talk at the same time.

All of this is true and the new Jeffrey Dean Foster solo cd “Million Star Hotel” is a reality and not just a cruel rumor. It is available right now. Click here to buy the CD.

LISTEN UP!

On Friday December 4th Jeffrey Dean Foster and the Birds of Prey will host the 5th Annual Million Star Hotel benefit concert for the Shalom Project at The Garage in Winston-Salem. If any of you friends can help spread the word about this event we would appreciate it. Either in the media or just through your workplace or associates. If you need more info, pictures, etc for JDF please go here. http://www.jeffreydeanfoster.com/epk/index.html

On this year’s bill we have two very special guests. Opening the show will be our friend and sometime collaborator, Aaron Bachelder. Aaron is working on a new solo record and will treat us to a rare live performance. Aaron is known to many as the musical director of the Enrichment Center Percussion Ensemble.

Next up will be Lynn Blakey. Lynn is one third of the critically acclaimed Tres Chicas and will be appearing with her husband Ecki Heinz. Lynn has sung on Jeffrey Dean Foster’s Million Star Hotel and The Pinetop’s Above Ground and Vertical as well as records by Alejandro Excovedo, Velvet Crush and The Two Dollar Pistols. Closing the show will be Jeffrey Dean Foster and The Birds of Prey. Mr. Foster and the band will be heading into the studio in early 2010 to begin work on the follow-up to Million Star Hotel. This should be quite the eclectic shindig.

All proceeds will go to The Shalom Project, a local nonprofit organization that seeks to develop ministries and programs of compassion and justice that enhance the development and serve the needs of West Salem and the greater Winston-Salem area.

The Shalom Project operates a food pantry, clothes closet, free health clinic, Wednesday night suppers and after school programs in the West Salem Neighborhood.

Please spread the word and we hope to see you again at our holiday bash. Further details are below.

We'd also like to hip you to some recent happenings.

Check this live video of Marti Jones and Don Dixon performing JD Foster's "So Lonesome I Could Fly" Marti covered the song on her "My Tidy Doily Dream" cd.

Speaking of Chuck Prophet...If your diet is lacking in real rock and roll songwriting and record making, go find his new record, Let Freedom Ring.

Sara Bell and Regina Hexaphone http://www.myspace.com/reginahexaphone have begun work on the followup to last year’s “Into Your Sleeping Heart”. Jeffrey Dean is pleased to be part of this collection of fine folks.
Andy Mabe http://www.myspace.com/andymabe continues to wear his many fashionable musical hats all over town. Brian Landrum has played and recorded with exceptional singer/songwriter Tyler Ramsey (Band of Horses) and continues to manage the best music club in Asheville, NC, the Grey Eagle. Former and always a Bird of Prey, Cliff Retallick is in LA mixing it up with everyone from Cat Stevens to George Clinton these days.

We are always looking for tech savvy creative types to make music films/videos for JDF songs. We would like to come out of our self imposed hermitization from the modern world. Please contact us if you are interested or just make a film and send it to us. We will help or we will get out of your way!

Stay tuned for much more. Look up.

Best Wishes,
Jackie Spry

“If you spend time chasing one album this year make it “Million Star Hotel”:
an hour of magic from North Carolina’s Jeffrey Dean Foster. Every second of this remarkable album cries out to be listened to, experienced, and cherished. Everything here is always doing its part; it’s down to the careful listener to find and explore that everything. For these songs will never let that listener down and never stale. Always they'll inspire, and always they’ll reward.”

"Million Star Hotel is absolutely not to be overlooked."- Fred Mills HARP Magazine

Sprawling and audacious, almost dazzlingly ambitious, Jeffrey Dean Foster’s Million Star Hotel is the kind of record with depth, soul, and a kind of spiritual quality that they just don’t make anymore. Stunningly beautiful…undeniably great. Luke Torn POP CULTURE PRESS

You can listen to a few tracks at MySpace. There are also MP3 samples here. Rare and unreleased tracks will be made available occasionally at the myspace site. You can also listen to a track that Mr. Foster wrote and recorded especially for the Theatrical Trailer to the critically acclaimed film and surprise hit of the summer, “Junebug”. “million star hotel” is slang for being homeless, for not having a roof over one’s head. Also the name of the new Jeffrey Dean Foster solo CD.

We’ll be back in touch soon. Until then have a Happy New Year and keep those cards and letters coming.

best wishes,
Jackie Spry
